Shillong, June 27 (UNI) Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Ambumani Ramadoss here today said action will be taken against the doctor couple of Manapparai in Chennai for allowing their minor son to perform a Caesarean section operation.

''The police have arrested them and now the law will decide its next course of action,'' Dr Ramadoss told UNI here before leaving for New Delhi after chairing the meeting of Parliamentary Standing Committee at North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute for Medical Sciences here.

He said the Tamil Nadu Medical Council would also deal with the case. Their medical licence would be cancelled if it is proved that their 15-year-old son M Dhileepan Raj had performed the operation.

The doctor couple were booked for various offences under sections of the IPC- 417, 419, 336, 338 and 308 - on counts of forgery, manipulation of records and endangering human life.
