'Indian' named number one carrier
Chennai, June 27 (UNI) National carrier Indian wrested the number one position in domestic passenger carriage for the first time in five years, recording a passenger market share of 21.4 per cent in May, displacing its nearest competitor.
The airline also recorded the maximum monthly carriage of 1.01 million passengers during the month and the performance had been achieved as a result of aggressive marketing initiatives, like Premium Economy fares, surf and save and Corporate super saver scheme, an airline statement here said.
Indian also leads the competition in providing constant upgrades in passenger related facilities and consistently recording high seat factors on its domestic network, the statement added.
Seat factors recorded by the airline in March (71.8 per cent), April (78.1 per cent) and May (77.9 per cent) were much higher than the industry average, it added.
