Gordon Brown takes over as British Prime Minister
London, June 27: Gordon Brown, the new leader of the Labour Party, has taken over as the new British Prime Minister today. This marks the end of Tony Blair's 10 years tenure as the Prime Minister.
Tony Blair today submitted his resignation to the Queen, thereby paving way for the next Prime Minister. Gordon Brown was then invited by the Queen to form the government.
Great Britain has seen the change in leadership without polls for the first time in 17 years.
Blair was the second longest serving PM in more than150 years.
