CPI(ML) members burn Biramdih railway station under SER
Purulia, Jun 27 (UNI) About 45 armed CPI(ML) members today set ablaze Biramdih railway station in Adra division of South Eastern Railways, 55 km from here, on the second day of the 48-hour economic blockade in Bihar, Jharkhand and parts of West Bengal.
A bomb disposal squad arrived at Biramdih station from Kolkata, which is just 300 km away, at 1500 hours and defused three powerful bombs lying on the rail tracks bordering Jharkhand.
Railway officials have started repairing damaged machines of the station master's room of Biramdih.
Train movement is expected to resume by tonight on the Adra and Chandil section via Purulia in Adra division.
Meanwhile, an armed police picket, including Railway Protection Force (RPF), has been deployed in the area to keep close watch on the movement of CPI(ML) members.
Incidentally this is the first time in West Bengal that an attack has been made on a railway station by Maoist ultras.
