Varanasi, June 27 (UNI) Even the high profile delegates accompanying Thailand Prime Minister Surayud Chulanon here today had the bitter taste of traffic snarl, which has become an inseparable part of life in this holy city.

Two air-conditioned buses accompanying the 14-strong fleet of vehicles, carrying the guests from Thailand were trapped in traffic snarl while on their way from Taj Ganges Hotel to the Buddhist pilgrimage of Sarnath.

As per the programme schedule which was sent from New Delhi to Varanasi, no big buses were included in the Thai PM's fleet of cars, but just before Mr Chulanon's Varanasi visit the authorities here were told that two AC buses carrying delegates will also form part of the fleet, district police sources confided.

The entire fleet, including the two buses reached the Taj Ganges Hotel from the Varanasi Airport with consummate ease, but on its way from the Hotel to Sarnath, the two big buses lagged behind the remaining fleet consequently ending up being trapped in traffic snarl of the city.

Senior Police Superintendent S B Shirodkar, however, sprung into action personally and cleared the way for the two buses to reach Sarnath around 15 minutes after the other cars carrying the distinguished Thai guests arrived at the Thai Temple near the 'Chaukhandi Stupa,' sources added.
