Mumbai: BMC Standing Committee approves Budget
Mumbai, June 27: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Standing Committee today approved the budget and allocated Rs 289.67 crore for development work.
Interestingly, the cororation for the first time has allocated Rs 10 lakh for concretizing the S.S.Rao road which leads to ''Lalbaugb ka Raja'' and also to clean the roads of adjacent area to enhance the 'festive look' during Ganpati festival, a release said here today.
''Ganpati festival is being celebrated in Mumbai on a large scale every year, Lakhs of devotees from across Maharashtra visit here to take the glimpse of Lalbaug ka Raja and, therefore considering the faith of people, we have proposed Rs 10 lakh for cement concrete road at S S Rao marg and storm water drain,'' Standing Committee Chairman, Mr Ravindra Waikar said.
''This time we have allocated sufficient funds for development work, services and facilities like three cardiac ambulances for the city (eastern and western suburbs ), he added.
Under these developments funds, the corporation will spend Rs five crore on Plasma Center, one lakh for acquiring a CT Scan machine for VN Desai Hospital, two crore on setting up of the libraries in the Municipal schools in all the 24 wards.
Another Rs two crore will be spend on providing Insurance cover to for safai kamgar, Rs five crore on supply of wood to crematorium, and Rs three crore on 100 ventilators for the for the different hospitals.
The councillor's fund has also been raised from Rs 4,000 to 10,000.
