Bali and Jayaswal wanted to frame me: R S Sharma

Pune, June 27 (UNI) Former Mumbai police commissioner R S Sharma, who was today acquitted in the fake stamp paper case, alleged that some officers of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), including O P Bali and Subodh Jayaswal, had tried to frame him.

''The two wanted to pad untruths against me. But I had always maintained my innocence. This victory today has reaffirmed my faith in the Indian Judicial system. Satyamev Jayate,'' Mr Sharma said.

Earlier in the day, the former Mumbai police commissioner, former Mumbai crime branch deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Pradeep Sawant and police inspector (PI) Vashist Andhale were exonerated in the fake stamp paper scam by Special MCOCA Judge Chitra K Bhedi here.

During his tenure with the Mumbai crime branch, DCP Sawant used to head the elite encounter squad that broke the backbone of the underworld in the metropolis.
