APCC ridicules TDP's statement on distribution of seeds

Hyderabad, June 27 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today ridiculed the statement of the TDP leaders that the state government had failed to supply seeds to farmers in the state.

Party official spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy, in a statement, said the Government had distributed more groundnut seeds to farmers than the TDP Government.

Giving details of the distribution of groundnut seeds in the state, he said the state government had distributed 5.56 lakh quintals during the kharif season in 2006 compared to the TDP government which supplied only 3.87 lakh quintals in 2003.

He said the state Government decided to distribute ten lakh quintals of groundnut seeds to farmers during 2007 and had already distributed 4.52 lakh quintals. The remaining quantity would be distributed before July 15.

He said the state Government had issued orders for the establishment of Horticulture University in Tadepalli Gudemn in West Godavari district and decided to open horticulture colleges in Kadapa and Mahaboobnagar districts for the development of horticulture.
