Lucknow, June 27 (UNI) Alleging politics of vendetta by the Mayawati-led Uttar Pradesh government, aimed at its leaders and members, agitated Samajwadi Party legislators today stalled the proceedings of the state legislative council on the first day of the budget session.

The SP members trooped to the centre of the August House claiming fabricated cases were being lodged against its activists by the new regime.

Amid slogan shouting, they demanded suspension of the question hour and taking up of the matter first.

However, council chairperson Chaudhary Sukhram Singh said the matter would be taken up during zero hour.

The SP members, however, did not unrelented and refused to return to their seats. The chairperson first adjourned the house for 15 minutes, followed by 10 and 30 minute adjournment.

When the council proceeding resumed at 1200 hrs, the SP members gathered in the well of the house on the matter.

Later, Mr Singh adjouned the house for the day. The next sitting of the house is slated for 1100 hrs tomorrow.
