27-year-old case awaits sanction order

Patna, Jun 27 (UNI) A 27-year-old case of misappropriation of government fund is still pending in a special vigilence court here for prosecution.

The case related to misappropriation of about Rs 23 lakhs in the Madhepura Road division of Public Works Department had been pending in the court of the Special Vigilance Judge S P N Singh here since 1980.

The case was first registered in Madhepura police station.But the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took four years to complete its investigation before submitting the chargesheet in 1984.

Though chargesheet was submitted under various sections of Indian Penal Code and prevention of corruption act, the case was transferred to the court in 1988.

On the prayer of prosecution by an order of court a case diary was reconstructed in 1993 but was submitted during next year.

The next date of hearing in the case was fixed by the court on July 16.
