K'taka: UPA-Left nominee Prathibha to campaign

Bangalore, Jun 26: The United Progressive Alliance and Left partis sponsored Presidential candidate Smt Prathibha Patil will visit Karnataka on July 5 to seek votes for her, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Mallikarjuna Kharge said today.

Speaking to newsmen here he said that during her visit the UPA-Left presidential candidate Prathibha Patil would also attend the Congress Legislature Party meeting and seek votes for her.

Referring to Bharatiya Janata Party's decision to form a committee to ensure a minimum of 33 per cent of party posts for women Mr Kharge said that it was a desperate act following UPA-Left front's decision to field a women candidate for the president's post. "The BJP seems to have realised the importance of women power after UPA-Left fielded a woman candidate for the first time to contest Presidential election," he ridiculed.
