Kathmandu, June 26 (UNI) Nepal Police confiscated Rs 40 lakh in Indian currency from two passengers of RA flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The persons were arrested and questioned at the District Police Office, SSP Prakash Kunwar said.

"We devised a scheme and kept vigil on every passenger," he said. Since the activities of these two persons were suspicious it was easy to track them down, Mr Kunwar added.

The money was kept in the false bottom of four bags.

Each bag contained money worth Rs 10 lakh in 500 and 1000 denominations, wrapped in paper.

It was not clear whether the money was real or not.

"That will be determined only after checking" Police said.

This was the first time that such a huge sum of Indian currency was confiscated in Nepal.
