Thai keen on bilateral trade with India
Agartala, June 26: Close on the heels of setting up a food-processing unit in Tripura by a Thailand enterprise, another Thai entrepreneur has announced Rs 30 crore investment for building a three-star hotel in Agartala.
The business delegates expressed their interest to Union minister for Department of Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), Mani Shankar Aiyar yesterday.
According to official sources here, Director of Board of Trade of Thailand, Dato' Satish Sehgal informed Mr Aiyar that they were planning to come up with 100 bedded hotels in Tripura with a total investment of Rs 30 crore.
''Thailand is keen to increase its bilateral trade volume with India and identified hydro power, infrastructure including construction of roads, waterways, tourism, horticulture, healthcare and food processing industries as possible areas of investment,'' sources said adding that the key sectors in Tripura are energy, chemical, food processing, agro-based industries and tourism.
