Paris Hilton released from jail after 45 days

Los Angeles, June 26: Hotel heiress Paris Hilton was freed from jail today after serving roughly half of her 45-day sentence for violating probation in a drunk-driving case.

The incarceration of the 26-year-old multimillionaire, who lampooned her own persona as a clueless child of privilege on the reality TV show ''The Simple Life,'' ignited a worldwide media frenzy and debate about celebrity justice.

Hilton smiled broadly as she walked alone down a walkway lined with photographers and camera operators. She made no statement before joining her parents in their sports utility vehicle.
