JIPMER issue: Par Committee to visit Pondy
Puducherry, June 26: A Parliamentary Standing Committee on JIPMER will come here on July two to hear the views of various sections regarding the conversion of the institute into an autonomous one.
Talking to newspersons here today, JIPMER Anti-Conversion Action Committee President Arokiyam Kalaimathi said the Standing Committee would be holding talks with faculty members and students on that day and no time had been allotted to the JIPMER employees. The Action Committee would stage a demonstration against this at JIPMER on July two.
JIPMER Anti-Conversion People's Action Committee and former CPI(M) State Secretary T Murugan, who was also present, said the Union Government had not made any change to the Bill pertaining to JIPMER conversion, despite request from all parties here. To register their protest, all trade unions and JIPMER employees would take out a procession on July three and the JIPMER Anti-Conversion People's Action Committee would meet the Standing Committee on July four, he added.
