Puducherry: CM inaugurates Transport Nagar
Puducherry, June 26: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy inaugurated the Transport Nagar (truck terminal), constructed by Ozhukarai municipality here.
Speaking on the occasion last night, Mr Rangasamy said the Transportnagar spread over 37 acres of land had the capacity to accomodate 600 trucks at a time. For the benefit of drivers and cleaners, hotels, tea stalls, toilets were built and telephone facilities provided.
He said the Transport nagar was constructed to unload raw materials, including vegetables, fruits from the lorries, which were hitherto hindering free flow of traffic by parking the vehicles on the roads to unload commodities.
Hereafter no lorries would be permitted inside the town, the Chief Minister said adding the truck operators should set up their godowns and unload the commodities at the terminal.
