Pakistan, EU to work together in fighting terrorism
Islamabad, June 25 (UNI) Pakistan and European Union have agreed to work together and enhance meaningful cooperation in countering terrorism.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between an EU Troika counter terrorism delegation and senior Pakistani officials here today.
Ambassador Matthias Sonn and his Pakistani counterpart Tariq Osman Hyder led their respective delegations at the meeting.
''The meeting was held to further the Pak-EU Ministerial Troika meeting of February 2007, which decided that dialogue in a number of areas, including counter terrorism, would be institutionalised,'' Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said in Islamabad.
This was the latest in Pak-EU interaction in this field since 2002. European Union appreciated Pakistan's contribution in the global campaign against terrorism while Pakistani officials stressed that it considered EU an important partner in this field.
