Left candidate likely to contest in VP poll: Bardhan

Hyderabad, June 25: Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary A B Bardhan today said there every possibility to field the Left candidate for the post of Vice-President in the contest.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Bardhan said ''the Left has not yet decided on the Vice-Presidential candidate. We would decide on the candidate, only after evolving a consensus with the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) partners''.

Not ruling out the possibility of fielding the Left candidate in the Vice-Presidential poll, he said, the UPA would choose a 'non-Congress' person for the post of the Vice-Presidnet.

The Left parties had already decided to field a non-Congress candidate in the election. The candidate would be finalised after the completion of the Presidential election process, he added.
