Docs taken into custody in teenager surgery case

Tiruchirapalli, June 25: Dr K Murugesan, a surgeon and his wife M Gandhimathy, a gynaecologist, who allowed their teenager son to perform a 'Caesarean section' on a woman recently, were taken into custody by the police here today.

A senior police official told UNIover phone that acting on the orders from Tiruchirapalli District Collector Ashish Vachchani, a special police team led by Manapparai, Deputy Superintendent of Police V Sridhasran went to Mathi Surgical and Maternity hospital at Manapparai town, where the couple were residing and took them into custody at 0730 hrs.

Later, the couple were taken to the Valanadu Police Station, where they were detained for interrogation, he added.
