Yediyurappa asks DCs to take action on warfooting

Bangalore, June 24 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today asked the district administrators to take all measures on warfoot to protect the lives and property of people battered by the monsoon fury for the last two days in the state.

Speaking to newspersons here today said that he had asked the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts to be ready to open relief centres to the affected people in the event of heavy rains continued.

"There is no dearth of funds and the state government would provide additional funds if needed for rehabilitation," he said.

Mr Yediyurappa, who also holds the finance portfolio, asked the officials to submit detailed reports on the loss suffered in their districts immediately to help the state government release compensation.

The toll in the monsoon fury that battered many places in the state during the last two days went up to 31, with two more rain related deaths reported today.
