Three assistants appointed to save drowning people: Police

Kancheepuram, June 24 (UNI) Kancheepuram District Police Superintendent A Amalraj today said three people were appointed as assistants to safeguard the visitors from being drowned in Mammalapuram sea-beach near here while taking their bath.

Talking to newspersons here, he said a recent survey revealed that in the last ten years 100 people were drowned in the sea. A notice board has been kept in the beach for the safety and awareness of the local residents and tourists, he added.

Mr Amalraj said 'Arima Sangam', a local assocation, would help the assistants in discharging their duties.
