Officials told to take measures to protect lives, property

Bangalore, June 24 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today asked the district administrators to take all measures to protect the lives and property of people battered by the monsoon for the last two days in the state.

Speaking to newspersons here he said he had directed the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts to be ready to open relief centres in the event of rains continuing.

''There is no dearth of funds and the state government will provide additional funds if needed for rehabilitation,'' he said.

Mr Yediyurappa, who also holds the Finance portfolio, asked the officials to submit detailed reports on the loss suffered in their districts immediately to help the government release compensation.
