Minister for vote according to conscious in Prez polls
Chandigarh June 24 (UNI) Local Government and Industry Minister Manoranjan Kalia today appealed to all the MPs and MLAs to vote ''according to their conscious'' to ensure that a ''clean'' person was elected to the country's highest post.
Noting that the UPA-Left consensus presidential nominee Pratibha Patil's name had been surrounded in the controversy of attempts by her to shield her brother G.N. Patil in a murder case, The minister said that vice-president Bhairon singh Shekhawat was the right choice for the prestigious post.
In a statement released here today, Mr Kalia appealed to the MPs and MLAs of all the parties to vote according to their conscience, in the same manner as the public representatives had elected V.V.
Giri against the official Congress candidate N. Sanjeeva Reddy in fifth Presidential election in 1970, an official release said here today.
