Militants use mobiles for extortion

Imphal, Jun 24 (UNI) Manipur Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh has said the militants were using mobile phones to demand extortions from top officials and businessmen.

''They also ask the government officials and businessmen to contact them on certain telephone and mobile numbers,'' Mr Singh further said.

The government would be taking action against the owners of such telephones and mobile phones, he added.

He also urged the people to inform the police in case their mobiles were lost so that the numbers were not mis-utilised.
