Kumaraswamy calls for high-level meeting on rain havoc

Bangalore, June 24 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today called for a high-level official meeting tomorrow to take stock of situation arising out of heavy rains that caused destruction in many parts of the state, killing 39 people during the last 48 hours.

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to ensure immediate relief to the people affected by heavy rains.

Mr Kumaraswamy asked the officials to reach the affected places quickly and take up relief works. He was in touch with the officials in the worst affected districts of Raichur, Gulbarga, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Bijapur and Dakshina Kannada.

A release from Chief Minister's Secretariat said Mr Kumaraswamy had also advised the ministers, who are in - charge of the districts, to help the administration in providing relief measures.

Mourning the death of many people in rain-related incident, he said compensation would be provided immediately.
