Girl attempts suicide after being scolded by principal

Lucknow, June 24 (UNI) A teenaged girl attempted suicide after being scolded by her school principal in the Uttar Pradesh capital.

Police today said Ankita -- daughter of HC advocate Rakesh Agarwal -- was reprimanded by her principal Archana Kaliya for playing truant and bringing a cell phone to school.

Insensed over the incident, the girl tried to end her life by consuming sleeping pills at her residence in Ashiana last night.

Ankita was rushed to hospital in serious condition.

A case has been registered against the principal.
