Foreigner's molestation: Chhattisgarh HC raps police
Bilaspur, June 24 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh High Court has expressed displeasure over the pace of a departmental inquiry against a police assistant sub-inspector accused of molesting a lady tourist from the US on the Gitanjali Express last year.
Chief Justice Jagdish Bhalla and Justice Satish Agnihotri yesterday directed the Director General of Police to either file an affidavit or appear in person on June 29.
The Court also lashed out at the Railways for inappropriate departmental action against Travelling Ticket Examiner K L Maravi who was on board the train on June 26, 2006 when Upendra Mishra, who was then posted in the Crime Branch here, molested Ms Anne Bridget.
The government's counsel submitted that Mishra was ''not cooperating'' with the inquiry.
On June 14, the Court directed the state goverment and the Railways to submit a status report on the inquiry.
