Final decision on solatium in next Cabinet meeting: CM

Pathanamthitta, June 24 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said a final decision on quantum of solatium to be given to the kin of those who died due to mosquito-borne viral fever in the state would be taken in the next Cabinet meeting.

Talking to reporters at the Collectorate, after attending a revew meeting with people's representatives and district-level officials here, he said the number of persons who sought medical care for viral fever was coming down drastically here.

The Chief Minister, who was on a visit to the fever-hit areas in the district, said steps would be taken to provide free ration to those, who were affected by vector-borne diseases.

A committee, consisting of Presidents of local bodies, ward members and village officer, had been formed by the government to prepare the list of those who deserved free-ration.

To a query, he said of the total 65,000 persons who had sought medical treatment for the viral fever in the district, 3031 were suspected chikungunya cases.

He said blood samples of 700 persons were sent for chemical examination.
