Villagers thrash 'baratis,' Rs 60,000 snatched

Etawah, June 23 (UNI) At least 12 people sustained serious injuries during a scuffle in a marriage procession in Jaswant Nagar area of the district.

The incident took place last night, when the 'barat' of Ramkrishna Yadav's son reached Rookanpur from Shikohabad of Ferozabad district.

When the procession was about to move, a fight over a dispute snowballed into a full-fledged clash, in which 12 'baratis' were injured after being thrashed by villagers.

Their valuables, including Rs 60,000, were also snatched, police said today.

A case had been registered against Papu Deewan Singh, Ashish, Mukud Singh and Indra Pal.
