UCIL's ore processing plant to be inaugurated

Jamshedpur, Jun 23 (UNI) A state-of-the art, high-end capacity Uranium Ore Processing Plant of Jadugoda-based Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) will be installed at Turamdih near here on June 25.

According to UCIL company secretary P V Dubey, the highly advanced ore processing plant would be inaugurated by the Atomic Energy Commission Chairman and secretary of Department of Atomic Energy Anil Kakodkar.

''Dr Kakodkar will also lead a 15-member high-level team, comprising nuclear scientists from DAE and AE,'' Mr Dubey said.

He said, Rs 350 crore was invested to set up the ore processing plant, having a capacity of processing 3000 tonnes of uranium ore.

The ore extracted from Turamdih, Mahuldih and Bandhurang mines would be processed in this plant, Mr Dubey said adding that the plant would be operational in a fortnight.
