Karnataka: Torrential rain claims seven lives

Raichur, June 23: Heavy rain accompanied with ghastly wind has claimed seven lives, including an infant, since last 24 hours in the District.

District Superintendent of Police Padmanayana told UNI that while four people were killed and two others injured when ceiling of their house collapsed at Kallur village in Malvi Taluk last night.

The injured were admitted to Government General Hospital here.

In another incident, two boys were killed when a house collapsed in the outskirts of Raichur. The debris fell on them while they were walking on the road killing them on the spot.

A 30 year old women was killed when a wall of her house collapsed on her in Gonal Village in Sindanur taluk.

Flood waters have entered low lying areas in the town and other parts of the District due to heavy rain lashing since last 24 hours.
