Punjab: Singapore company to develop Mohali

Chandigarh, June 23: The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) today executed an agreement with the Singapore- based, Jurong International Private Ltd, for reviewing and preparing the Regional Development Plan and the Master Plans of the areas and towns situated within the jurisdiction of GMADA.

The agreement was signed here between Mr Krishan Kumar, Chief Administrator, GMADA, and Ms Seetho Kum Chum, Vice President of Jurong International in the presence of Chief Secretary R I Singh.

Mr Arun Goel, Secretary Housing and Urban Development was also present as were Mr Raymond Kwok and Mr Rapheal Chua, both of the Singapore company.

In its endeavor to continue with the legacy of Le Corbusier who had prepared the Master Plan of Chandigarh, the Punjab government selected Jurong International for preparing the Regional Development Plan of the whole area under GMADA, spreading over 1,350 sq km M/S.

Jurong International will prepare or review the Master Plan of six towns Mohali, Zirakpur, Kharar , Banur, Dera Bassi and Mullanpur, under the jurisdiction of GMADA. The consultant is expected to accomplish the task within twelve months from the execution of the agreement.

The state Council of Ministers had already approved the services of Jurong International.

This company has also undertaken important projects in Asia and Africa and in India they have recently completed an SEZ in Navi Mumbai and the Mahindra's SEZ in Jaipur.
