Shiv Sena protests screening of 'Ms Anara'

Varanasi, June 23 (UNI) A day after the Shiv Sena stalled the release of Bollywood flick 'Ms Anara' in Jammu and Kashmir, the saffron outfit today replicated the protests here stopping the screening of the film for nearly an hour.

Led by distric party president Gulshan Kapoor, the Sena activists trooped into Sajan Cinema Hall in the Sigra area. Protesting the film's screening, the activists set afire its posters and stopped movie-goers from entering the hall just before the first show was about to start.

''The film depicting the shady life of former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta is an attack on our culture and will have an adverse bearing on the psyche of the youth. We have warned the cinema hall owners to stop the film's screening failing which a massive movement will be launched,'' Mr Kapoor said.

Getting to know about the protest, police reached the spot and prevented the matter from aggravating.

Meanwhile, the owners of Sajan cinema hall said, ''The screening of the film released yesterday will not be stopped at any cost. The Sena protests only delayed its first show today by an hour.'' The movie depicts the real life story of Anara, who hogged the headlines after her purported pornographic CD came to light in 2004.
