Rajasthan accords warm welcome to acting Governor

Jaipur, Jun 23 (UNI) A warm welcome was accorded to Rajasthan's acting Governor A R Kidwai on his arrival here to take charge of his post.

Dr Kidwai arrived here this morning. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, her cabinet colleagues, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Sumitra Singh, several other dignitaries and high officials were present at the Sanganer Air port.

Dr Kidwai is scheduled to take oath at the Raj Bhawan here at 1730 hours this evening.

Haryana Governor Dr Kidwai has been given the additional charge of Rajasthan following the resignation by Governor Mrs Pratibha Patil.

Mrs Patil has tendered her resignation on June 21 to contest the July 19 Presidential election as ruling UPA-Left combine's nominee.

Mrs Patil had taken over as governor in the state on November 8, 2004.
