Probe into misuse of Dhindsa's residence: Dasmunsi
New Delhi, June 23: Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today said a probe must be ordered into how the residence of Akali Dal leader S S Dhindsa was misused to convene a press meet in which a widow levelled allegations against UPA Presidential nominee Pratibha Patil that she shielded her brother in a murder case.
''Mr Dhinsda was shocked how his residence was used for such a purpose.... It is a case of trespassing. A probe is a must. We will first talk to Mr Dhindsa how to go about it,'' Mr Dasmunsi told a joint press conference with Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar after Mrs Patil filed her nomination for the Presidential post.
Mr Pawar said the Opposition NDA was behind the convening of the press meet.
''Mr Sudheendra Kulkarni, who was present there, was working with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It is clear the NDA was behind it,'' he said.
Mr Pawar said Akali Dal President Parkash Singh Badal was also shocked how his colleague's residence was used for such purpose.
''He has denied that his party has any role in it.'' On the allegation by Mrs Rajni Patil, widow of slain Congress leader from Jalgaon (Maharashtra) V Patil, that Mrs Pratibha Patil's brother was behind the murder of her husband, both Mr Pawar and Mr Dasmunsi said the matter was being probed by the CBI on the High Court orders and that it would be premature to cast aspersions on anybody.
''Law will take its own course,'' Mr Dasmunsi said.
Yesterday, the Congress had dubbed the allegations as scandalous and without any basis.
