'K'taka Administration was put on alert on rains'
Bangalore, Jun 23: District administration in Kodagu, Bijapur, Bagalkot and other districts have been put on alert to face any rain-related calamities and instructed to take up immediate relief measures, Karnataka Chief Minister Mr H D Kumaraswamy said here today.
Mr Kumaraswamy, who cancelled his North Karnataka tour following torrential rains in some parts of Bijapur, Bagalkot and Raichur districts, told newsmen that he had sought immediate report on the situation from the rain affected districts and instructed officials to provide relief measures to the affected on priority basis.
He said five people had died due to thunders showers in Kodagu, Raichur and Bijapur districts. Several roads and bridges had collapsed due to heavy rains affecting normal life in some parts of the state. There were also reports related to submerging of many villages in Bijapur and Bhagalkot districts and relief measures were being taken to help the affected, he added.
