UP: HUJI commander, aide arrested in Lucknow

Lucknow, June 23: In a major swoop, Special Task Force(STF) of the Uttar Pradesh police today arrested banned terrorist outfit Harkat-ul-jehad-al-Islam(HUJI) commander and his aide after an encounter in the state capital.

Jalaluddin, alias Babu, the mastermind behind several blasts in the country in the recent past, along with Naushad, was arrested after an encounter in Wazirganj police station area.

Altogether nine kg RDX, one AK-47 assault rifle and several firearms were recovered from the possession of the terrorists.

Earlier on Thursday last, STF had arrested two other terrorists of the same gang, Mohammad Yakub and Nasir, along with 7 kg RDX and different equipment for blasts.

STF sources here said Babu, a resident of 24 Pargana district in West Bengal, was the commander of the module of HUJI, they have ferried about 100 kg of RDX in different parts of the country, including Mumbai, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Varanasi and Hyderabad.
