Heavy rains lashes in Mumbai Karnataka region for second day

Hubli, June 23 (UNI) Normal life was paralysed with rains lashing the whole of Mumbai-Karnataka region continuously for the second day today resulting in heavy increase in the inflow into major rivers.

Official sources said intermittent a heavy rains affected normal life in Belgaum, Bagalkot and Dharwad districts severely.

Idari-Gundal bridge in Bagalkot was collapsed disrupting the traffic to Hungund and surrounding Six villages, While 15 houses were collapsed in Bilgi town of the district. However, there was no loss of life, sources added. Low lying areas of Hubli-Dharwad were inundated following continuous rains.

Karnataka Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar has directed the deputy commissioner to make arrangements for providing relief measures to the affected people in the low lying areas. He would be visiting Bagalkot and Bijapur districts along with officials to assess the situation soon.
