Haryana: Drugs worth lakhs seized in raids

Chandigarh, June 23 (UNI) A state-level team of Drug Inspectors recovered intoxicating drugs and psychotropic substances worth lakhs of Rupees during raids conducted at various chemist shops in Sirsa district in Haryana.

A Health Department spokesman said the team, headed by G L Singhal, Assistant State Drug Controller, inspected six chemist shops in the city and seized 48 types of various intoxicating drugs.

These included Norphine, Binorphine, Pentazocin, Fotwin and Phenergen, Cap Nitrazipam, Proxyvon, Spasmoproxyvon, Carisoma, Parbodex, Lomotil and many other drugs in huge quantities.

As many as 14 samples of various drugs were taken by the raiding team from these chemist shops, which had been sent to government laboratory at Chandigarh for testing, he added.
