Govt to revive sick PSUs through joint ventures: Kerala CM

Kochi, June 23 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said his government would take initiatives to revive sick state-owned Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) through joint ventures with Central PSUs.

Addressing a gathering, after the government signing an MoU with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to rejuvenate state PSU Transformers and Electrical Kerala Limited (TELK) here, Mr Achuthanandan said the government was giving utmost importance for chalking out plans to turnaround the sick units.

''After the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government came to power some of the loss-making state PSUs have been revived through constructive policies,'' he said.

He said projects like Smart City and Vallarpadam Terminal would be the engine for growth in the state.

Speaking at the function, State Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem said the government was trying to cultivate an investor-friendly environment to attract more investments to Kerala.

He said the various upcoming projects in the state were a testimony to the impetus provided by the government.
