'Economic blockade': Chhattisgarh's security being beefed up

Jagdalpur, June 23 (UNI) Elaboratesecurity arrangements were being made in Chhattisgarh's Naxalite-affected areas following a rebel call for a two -day nationwide economic blockade from June 26 official sources said today.

Chief Minister Raman Singh directed the Commissioner (Development) and Inspectors-General to ensure protection of public property.

Chhattisgarh Police have been maintaining contact with its Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra counterparts for launching a joint campaign, if necessary. Besides putting special alert in border areas, the CISF, RPF and senior Railway officials were asked to exercise extra vigil.

Late on Thursday, ultras torched Orissa's Dadlipur Railway Station on the Bailadila-Visakhapatnam route and damaged a locomotive by triggering a blast. The route has since closed.
