Depression moves to Husnabad in Marathwada
Visakhapatnam, June 23 (UNI) The deep depression, which crossed the coast near Kakinada yesterday, weakened into a depression today and lay near Husnabad in Marathwada.
Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) Director V L Prasad Rao told UNI here this afternoon that the system was likely to move in the West-north-westerly direction and weaken gradually.
Under its influence, rain or thundershowers were likely at many places in Telangana and Rayalaseema, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours, he said.
Squally winds with speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph were likely to continue along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours, he said.
As the sea condition would be rough, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
Local cautionary signal no.3 was hoisted at all Andhra ports.
The chief amounts of rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours were Nandyal 19 cm, Khammam 18 cm, Adhanki, Narasaraopet and Darshi 12 cm each, Chodavaram and Palakonda 10 cm each, Tuni 7 cm, Bhimavaram 6 cm, Chintapalli and Utukuru 4 cm each, and Adilabad 3 cm.
