Chahal gets bail in kitchen case, denied in Mercedes case

Patiala, June 23 (UNI) A local court today rejected bail to B I S Chahal, media advisor to former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, in one case of cheating and forgery but granted him bail in another such case.

Chief Judicial Magistrate S S Panser rejected the bail application of Chahal in Mercedes Benz case and granted him bail in Kitchen case registered here.

On Friday, the court had reserved its decision on the bail applications.

The Defence counsel JPS Sarao, who was present on the behalf of NPS Warich, said that they will challenge the court's decision in Sessions court next week.

A Ludhiana court had also rejected the bail application of BIS Chahal in an attempt to murder case.

The Mercedes Benz case in which bail was rejected, was registered in civil lines police station on the complaint of Jagatjit Singh, owner of Bhagat Motors, that Chahal took his Mercedes Benz in 2005 but never returned the vehicle. He even allegedly got it registered in his own name on the basis of fake papers.

Police recovered the vehicle from Ramba village near Karnal (Haryana) on June 15.

The Patiala police have registered a case under Sections 384, 406, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC against Chahal.

The other case of forgery and cheating registered at Kotwali police station, in which Chahl has got bail, pertained to Chahal getting his kitchen at his residence here renovated and fitted with the latest cooking gadgets. The complainant alleged that the bill of Rs 15 lakh incurred for the kitchen was not paid by Chahal.

Chahal was sent to judicial custody in both the cases till June 30 by Chief Judicial Magistrate and was currently lodged in Patiala central jail.
