BJP forms election committee for Maharashtra
Nagpur, June 23 (UNI) The BJP today formed an election committee for Maharashtra in view of the Lok Sabha and state Legislative Assembly elections due in 2009.
The party's state unit chief Nitin Gadkari said the committee would have 15 members and 4 permanent invitees.
The committee is headed by Mr Gadkari himself, while BJP Maharashtra unit General Secretary is its Secretary. The members on the committee are Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Pandurang Phundkar, Eknath Khadse, Raghunath Kulkarni, former Legislative Council chairman N S Pharande, Pasha Patel, Chainsukh Sancheti, Haribhau Bagde, Vijay alias Bhai Girkar, Harishchandra Chavan, Prakash alias Anna Shendge, Kanta Nalawade, Sudhir Mungantiwar and BJP Mumbai unit chief Prakash Mehta.
The permanent invitees are BJP Vice President Bal Apte, General Secretary Gopinath Munde, party spokesman Prakash Jawadekar and former union minister Ram Naik, Mr Gadkari added.
