Bhopal police clueless about dacoity, murder

Bhopal, June 23 (UNI) City police are still clueless about yesterday's dacoity at the Rastogi residence in Vrindavan Colony during which the family patriarch was murdered.

Former principal Veerendra Singh Rastogi (70) was killed, which his wife Vijaylakshmi, son Atul and daughter-in-law Pushpa are hospitalised in critical condition. About ten dacoits entered the residence in the wee hours after breaking open a grill and then used bricks and sticks to assault the foursome asleep on the ground floor.

The elder son and his wife had a providential escape as they were on the first floor.

Police said that some jewellery and other valuables were looted.

Coincidentally, a few major dacoities took place here last July.

Among the earlier victims was Bhopal's ex-Collector O P Dubey.

Ultimately, about a dozen members of a Bangladeshi gang were apprehended.
