6 killed, 15 injured in separate accidents in J'khand

Ranchi, Jun 23 (UNI) At least six people were killed and 15 others injured in two separate accidents in Jharkhand today.

In Garwah district, four people were killed and three others injured when an express train rammed into an auto rickshaw at an unmanned railway crossing near Garwah town railway station under East-Central Railways.

Police said the accident occurred near Pratappur village under Garwah road-Chopan rail section when the autorickshaw, carrying about eight passengers, was crossing the railway tracks.

As the 3369 DN Triveni Link Express was approaching the unmanned crossing, the autorickshaw got stuck on the tracks. Even the driver, who could not jump out, were among the four dead.

Only one passenger managed to escape, police said, adding the injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital.

Local people, who had demonstrated with the bodies, later called-off their agitation, after district administration's intervention.

Another report from Chatra said two people were killed and 12 others injured when a jeep carrying them turned turtle near Bagta area under Simaria police station area.

Police said the jeep going to Lawalong area, turned upside down near Lutidih while provding pass to a passenger bus coming from behind.

The injured were rushed to the Sadar hospital.
