4 killed, 3 injured as train rams into auto rickshaw

Garwah, June 23 (UNI) Four people were killed and three others injured when an express train rammed into an auto rickshaw at an unmanned railway crossing near Garwah town railway station under East-Central Railways here today.

Police said the accident occurred near Pratappur village under Garwah road-Chopan rail section when the auto rickshaw, carrying about eight passengers, was crossing the railway tracks.

As the 3369 DN Triveni Link Express was apporaching the unmanned crossing, the auto rickshaw got stuck on the tracks. Even the driver, who could not jump out, were among the four dead.

Only one passenger managed to escape, police said, adding, that the injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital.

Locals demonstrated with the bodies, The demonstration was later called-off after district administration's intervention.
