20,300 cusecs of water released into sea from barrage

Vijayawada, June 23 (UNI) The Irrigation Department officials here today released about 20,300 cusecs of excess water from Prakasam barrage to Downstream into sea.

Irrigation sources told UNI that water reaching the barrage was mainly due to overflowing of streams, following incessant rains since the last few days.

About 1,250 cusecs of water was also released to irrigation canals, the sources said and added, of the 70 crest gates of the barrage, 28 gates lifted upto one ft.

However, the water level at the barrage was maintained at 12 ft, the sources added.
