UP Additional Director (Malaria) suspended
Lucknow, June 22 (UNI) A senior official of the Uttar Pradesh Medical and Health department was today suspended over charges of financial irregularities relating to publication of advertisements.
Additional Director (Malaria) Dr G K Chawla was suspended for his alleged involvement in financial bungling of to Rs 3.5 lakh in the publication of ads by the department.
Departmental Additional Director General Dr S S Srivastava and Director (Contagious Disease) Dr Rajaram have also been asked for clarifications in the matter.
Medical and Health department secretary Nivedita Shukla said here that several irregularities had come to light, when complaints regarding the process of publication of ads was probed.
She said the task was assigned to private parties and norms were not followed in their selection.
Besides, the newspapers were also selected arbitrarily, while no permission was sought for ads on television channels.
Ms Shukla informed that normally the state Information department is given the task of publishing such ads, but the process was not followed in this case.
