Two Naxals killed in encounter

Warangal, June 22 (UNI) Two naxalites, belonging to CPI (M L) Prathighatana, were killed in an exchange of fire with the police near Musukullagudem in this district today.

A Special Police team, engaged in anti-insurgency operations, spotted a group of persons moving around in suspicious manner near Musukullagudem and asked them for their identity. Instead of answering the police, the group opened fire, forcing the police to retaliate in self defence, police sources said.

The exchange of fire lasted for about 15 minutes and many of the group members fled the scene. Later, police found two bodies at the site. They also recovered one carbine and pistol from the scene.

One of the slain Naxal was identified as M Srinu, alias Bhaskaranna (30), Commander of Prathighatana Mahabubabad Dalam and a native of Muththaram of Palakurthy mandal.
